hojicha latte

i have become absolutely obsessed with hojicha! it's a delightful japanese green tea powder similar to matcha, but has a more warm, roasty flavor (whereas matcha is quite bright and clean, hojicha is more earthy)!
i tried an amazing hojicha latte at a cafe nearby, and immediately wanted to learn how to make it at home. it's wonderful hot or iced, sweetened or unsweetened - you can do so many things with it to personalize it to your own tastes! please give it a try, it's really wonderful and comforting.

anyway! let's get started!

ingredients:
2 oz water
1 tsp powdered hojicha
8 oz milk of choice

optional:
1 tsp cocoa powder
1 tsp pure maple syrup (or to taste)

directions
whisk together the water, hojicha, and (if you added it) cocoa powder and maple syrup super thoroughly until no clumps remain
if you're drinking it iced, pour over ice and add your milk - and that's it!
if you'll be drinking it hot, pour your milk in to the hojicha mixture, whisk again, and heat in the microwave (i usually give it about one minute and 45 seconds)
enjoy all by itself, with breakfast, with a lil' shortbread cookie...whatever you like!!! i can almost guarantee you'll fall in love with it too :)

thank you for being my friend.
